The Project Linus Chapter of Wake County, NC was started in 1996 by Susie Holmes. Over 50,000 blankets have been delivered to many local groups and agencies that help seriously ill or traumatized children who need a HUG from a blanket including: Wake Med Hospitals, Rex Hospital, Duke Hospital NICU, Safe Space (for children of abused women receiving support), Hospice (for their Reflections program for grieving children and teens), Make a Wish Foundation, the children at Salvation Army, Children's Flight of Hope, and Wake County Social Services.

Donate to Project Linus

You can help Project Linus fulfill our mission in several ways:
  • Become a “blanketeer” and make a blanket for a child.  See the Blanket Guidelines page on our blog for information on blanket sizes, fabrics, and finishes.
  • Volunteer to help with a Project Linus event.  Our annual Make A Blanket Day is held in February, and there are other events during the year.
  • Donate materials and supplies.  Our wish list includes:  cotton fabric, polar fleece, and acrylic yarn for making blankets (new materials that are washable and are child-friendly colors and prints), low-loft quilt batting, clear plastic lawn/leaf bags (for delivering blankets), white sewing thread, needles.
  • Make a monetary donation.  Funds are used to purchase stamps, photocopies, blanket labels, blanket-making materials, sewing notions and other supplies.  Make your check payable to Project Linus, and write Raleigh, NC Chapter on the memo line.  Print this Donation Form and mail to Project Linus National Headquarters.
  • Donate online here. Please note that your donation is for the Raleigh, NC chapter.
Please contact Susie Holmes, Raleigh Chapter Coordinator, for more information on how you can donate to Project Linus.
